Elevating Laca Udilla's presence on Drag Race España Season 5. We took the ideas and costumes from the show and integrated them into an editorial set of photoshoots with a clear art direction and personal identity.

Overview
Laca Udilla is a staple in the Spanish drag scene, with a personality and aesthetic that blends modern fashion references with deep cut Spanish references and folklore.
Her presence in Drag Race España Season 5 brought a fresh take on what drag looks like in Spain, and we wanted to make sure every detail was well thought out. Our job in art direction went from conceptualizing her looks for the runway to giving every photoshoot a sense of polish and editorial design.
Miguel Zaragozá was in charge of photography, while I completed the work with the digital retouching of every picture.
This outfit was used for the talent show on episode 1 of the fifth season of Drag Race España. The clear GAULTIER inspiration ties perfectly with the MARITIME theme of the song "Tatuaje", originally performed by Concha Piquer.
The process
Before coming up with the art direction for the photoshoot, we needed a garment. The inspiration was clear: Jean Paul Gaultier SS 2000 & SS 2024.
With that in mind, we set out to construct a version of the iconic feather dress using ribbon and mesh, making sure to add some flare by exaggerating the shapes, gathering the long loops of ribbon and leaving free ends as a faux fringe element.
The colour story was simple: SOFT but BOLD, FEMININE but STRONG. All in line with Laca Udilla's character and personality.
